1) Be fearless
- Explore, click, and discover: The buttons and major functions of the program will not magically disappear or spontaneously combust. The best way to learn is to experience, so find a cozy space with your favorite electronic device, put on your favorite music to evoke relaxation and processing, and boldly face your technology fears.
2) There is no such thing as a mistake
- ‘Control+Z’ is your best friend if you accidentally delete something. The best creations are made when you overwrite something, learn from your process or (more commonly) learn something new.
3) Be Open
- When learning about new software/hardware/apps, we sometimes have fixed notions regarding their capabilities. Be willing to explore with an open mind and open heart. Every piece of technology holds a unique capability to produce change, your creativity and clinical knowledge are the keys to utilizing these great tools!
4) Educate
- If you find yourself stuck, search for an answer. Youtube, google, and vimeo all have great resources on music technology. Perhaps you may even find your answers here eventually?
5) Create
- Before you bring technology into your setting, be sure that you have experience using these tools for your own creative wellbeing. Develop your own relationship with your newfound tools and expand your creative potential.
